Still one of the best people managers I’ve had the pleasure to work under.
Surprised and sad to see you go. I’ve enjoyed working with you and appreciated the thoughtfulness with which you approached the {redacted} situation. We discussed poaching you for a different team on at least one occasion, but decided we couldn’t do that to your existing team - so it feels extra ironic that you got caught in the lay-off.
I know we haven’t worked together that long, but I’m seriously bummed and want you to know that there will be a gaping hole in our team when you leave.
Just saw your name in a list of those laid off. I’m really sorry, this is awful. Just wanted to say that I think this is a bad decision, working with you has always been a bright spot for me at Mozilla. You are thoughtful, kind, and have always worked cross-functionally (even before it was a buzzword).
One thing’s for sure, Mozilla won’t be the same without you.
Hey, very sad to see you go. It’s always been a pleasure working and chatting with you. Thanks for all your help leading me through everything at Mozilla! I hope you find something rewarding elsewhere, really can’t stress enough how great it’s been working with you
I want you to know that seeing your name on the list made me most sad of all. You are kind, smart, and very hard working. I really appreciated your leadership in add-ons, and your friendship in general... Whatever company gets you next is lucky.
Out of the folks I’ve heard about, your name was the ultimate WTF for me.
i will miss you terribly
David Durst has been one of the most influential people in my career. He took a chance on me at @threespot, and was such an extraordinary engineering manager that I jumped on the opportunity to work with him again at Mozilla.
As far as I’m concerned, David is the platonic ideal of a manager: an advocate for his reports who offers incredible insight and empowers his people to shape their careers and lives. I can’t thank him enough for his leadership.
I just wanted to thank you for the time we worked together. You started me on the road to getting better positioned here at Mozilla and now I am much happier working on the {redacted} project, so I need to thank you once again for that.
What really matters is that I am shocked to hear you will be leaving us. You are an excellent engineer and leader. I have always enjoyed working with you and this company will be much worse without you.
I wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciated having you as a manager and colleague. You were constantly kind and understanding, you helped me be at my best without ever being stressful, you had my back and I’ll always be grateful for that. I do know for sure I wouldn’t have made it that far at Mozilla without you. Thank you, I hope our paths cross again someday
I just wanted to say that I’ve always appreciated working with you, your pragmatic POV, how you engaged with others, etc. Not only has {redacted} continuously told me how good of a partner you’ve been, I’ve had other product people ping me to say how much they appreciated you over the years over your various roles.
You were a great manager to me, and I enjoyed working with you because of your involvement and personality. It has been very obvious that you care deeply about your work and the people with whom you work, which also shows in your continued interactions despite having moved to a different team.
When I joined Mozilla as an employee, your efforts, communication and trust helped me to smoothly get on board, which is even more noteworthy considering that you yourself were still relatively new to the team. Soon it felt that you have always been part of the team. At the time when the future of Add-ons was uncertain, your transparency and open communication helped me with putting the situation in context, and thanks to that I did not worry too much. You contributed to a pleasant work environment that allowed me to work productively, and for that I’m very thankful.
You are incredible at your job
I just saw the news and saw your name in the list, I’m so sorry (and frankly pretty shocked!) to hear you were caught up in these layoffs. I’ve really enjoyed working with you over the years.
It makes me very sad to see you go. I love how you put critical and thorough thinking into things and that leading to asking the right (and sometimes hard) questions.
That and your exceptional personality made it a great pleasure to work with you!
You were one of the best managers I have had at any company and it is going to tremendously suck not having you around. If you ever need references hit me up and I'll have a glowing one.
You’re a rock solid manager. I really appreciated working with you, and I know the people you supported throughout your time here did, too. I’d hire you again in an instant.
